Meet Kathleen
Kathleen Walck
teacher, artist & studio owner
Kathleen is a Pennsylvania certified K-12 art educator who has taught art to toddlers through adults since 2002. Prior to starting Local Folk, she taught art in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool, taught craft classes at a variety of community venues, and also worked as a museum educator at the Allentown Art Museum. She's also mom to two boys who have been her biggest teachers on how to be creatively resourceful (especially when trying to occupy them in waiting rooms!). A resident of Kutztown, she believes strongly in the arts as a way to create bonds within communities.

In addition to teaching art and creative workshops, she is a fiber artist who also uses the studio to create her own work. She makes hand embroidered hoop art under her other business, Walnut and Laurel Handmade, named for the cross streets where she used to live. You’ll often find her at the table stitching, printing, weaving or dyeing objects to prepare for classes or to sell in the studio. Stop by and say “hello!”
